WHY INGLEWOOD
My resume is more than job titles it’s 27 years of serving people, advocating for our community, and doing the work.
I’m Raina Carrillo, born and raised in Inglewood.
My experience includes:
• Former State Assembly Delegate, District 61 — California Democratic Party (CADEM)
• Director of Gang Intervention & Resources — Avance Club
• Board Member — Northeast Community Clinic
• Founder & CEO — Phoenix Rising Coalition
• Lead Activist — Inglewood Peace and Fairness Coalition through Stop the Violence Increase the Peace Foundation
• Community leader involved in the effort that led to the creation of Inglewood’s Citizen Police Oversight Commission following the televised Donovan Jackson incident
• First woman to help establish a community ceasefire in Inglewood alongside KB and Dane from the Bottoms community
• 27 years of experience in gang intervention, youth development, conflict resolution, violence prevention, community organizing, and connecting families with resources
• Worked for Mayor Villaraigosa in LA City Hall as a Program Manager for the department of GRYD-Rampart.
When the Donovan Jackson incident happened, I didn’t sit on the sidelines. I became a lead activist through the Inglewood Peace and Fairness Coalition, advocating for peace, fairness, accountability, and stronger community oversight.
I’ve worked with young people, families, community organizations, nonprofits, and residents to help prevent violence and create opportunities for people to change the direction of their lives. My qualifications come from experience in the community not just behind a desk. I’ve been in the rooms where difficult conversations happened. I’ve stood in the streets when our community needed peace. I’ve advocated for accountability. I’ve worked with youth and families. And I’ve spent decades building relationships across Inglewood. I’m not running for Mayor because I believe I know everything. I’m running because I know how to listen, bring people together, advocate for residents, and get to work.
